Samantha Mowbray, Chief Executive of Swindon Borough Council

Hi, I’m Sam and I’m the Chief Executive here at Swindon Borough Council. I’m delighted that you’re taking a look at our careers site and hope you find a role that’s right for you.

At Swindon, we have the ambition not only to be one of the best local authorities, but also to be one of the most modern and forward thinking. Swindon is a thriving town, consistently ranked highly compared to cities across the country and we want to make it the best place we can for the residents who live here.

We have three clear missions here in Swindon:

• Reduce inequality: make Swindon a fairer place, reduce disadvantage and eliminate big disparities in life expectancy, education levels and social justice
• Build a better Swindon: create a town ready for the challenges of the coming decades. Where possible, lead town centre improvement and create more affordable housing in partnership with the private sector
• Achieve net zero: fully play our part as a Council and a town in combatting climate change. Work with communities to find new ways of doing things that help, not hinder, the natural environment

We’re focussed on delivering high quality services for our residents, allowing them to engage with us in a way that suits them, while also providing value for money and good outcomes.

At the Council, what we do really matters. We do things right and we make it happen together. We’re looking for people to come and work with us who are passionate about working collaboratively to achieve things for Swindon.
