We have an exciting opportunity for a Lettings Co-Ordinator to join the Housing team at Swindon Borough Council.

Your next role

We are currently looking for someone with passion, energy and empathy to join our Lettings team, as a Lettings Co-Ordinator. You will be customer-focused and understand that your work significantly affects the service users experience and journey.

You will have excellent communication skills and be someone that can build a rapport quickly with customers, professionals and colleagues, alike. As this role is fast-paced, you will need to be accustomed to working under pressure, able to make quick decision, where required, and have a flexible approach to working.

You will be responsible for processing tenancy terminations and co-ordinating the pre-void lettings and advertising process for our choice-based lettings scheme. You will be confident in taking ownership of driving efficiency to let SBC properties within the agreed timescales whilst adhering to our Allocation Policy, SBC policies and procedures. You will be customer-focused and understand that your work significantly impacts on our customers.

This role involves working with many partners, both internal and external as well as individually using your own initiative. You need will have excellent administrative skills, be IT literate, have good inter-personal skills in dealing with customers whilst having a flexible approach to work and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. You must have an eye for detail and excellent data entry skills to input information into our housing database and data entry into spreadsheets. You must also have strong organisational skills and meet the deadlines required for this service.

You will preferably have background of working within social housing environment or similar experience; however full training will be given to the right candidate.

Of course, we don’t expect you to know the role inside and out which is why we train and develop our staff to build the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to be help our customers accordingly. We do however, require someone who is motivated to get the job done, is a team player, most importantly has a can-do attitude; holding the skills as outlined above and the right behaviours.

Please note that a full UK driver licence and access to a car that can be used for business use is essential for this role.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
