The Council’s new Prevention and Communities Directorate is looking for a credible and highly effective Head of Revenue and Benefits to lead all matters relating to Council Tax, Non-Domestic Business Rates, Housing Benefits and Financial Inclusion. You will work alongside colleagues to ensure customers are at the heart of our service
Your next role
You will be the Council’s technical expert on all matters relating to Council Tax, Business Rates and Benefits. You will work alongside Corporate Directors, Directors, Members and other Heads of Service to ensure statutory obligations are met and the service is operating effectively.
You will contract manage our outsourced Council Tax service, operated by Liberata, ensuring excellent relationship management which maximises results. Directly managing a small team of senior staff in the Revenues and Benefits Team, you will provide strong leadership and development opportunities.
Your work will involve working alongside and building relationships with statutory and voluntary organisations; working together to ensure Swindon is a place where residents have the opportunity for financial wellbeing. You will play a significant role in the delivery of the Fairer Swindon mission of the Swindon Plan.
We are looking for someone who has extensive experience in this field, ideally having operated at a head of service level with their Institute of Revenues Rating & Valuation (IRRV) qualification.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
The ability to travel throughout the Borough will be required and access to a car
The team operates a hybrid working model with all practitioners expected to be in the office for a minimum of two days per week.
