Dependent on seniority of the role, you will have a professional qualification and/ or a knowledge base or interest in energy management. A good understanding of appropriate legislation for the relevant role is needed.

If you feel you can add value to Swindon Borough Council and be a part in shaping how we manage our energy and carbon emissions we are keen to hear from you.

Your next role

You will be responsible for supporting the Energy Manager with utility contract management, ensuring the Council can demonstrate best value for money in its utility procurement. The role will be expected to be self-directing from the outset and take full responsibility for their role whilst also supporting the Energy Manager with provision of data and progress reporting against the Council’s Net Zero Emissions Action Plan. The role will also be responsible for keeping track of the Council’s energy consumption with a particular focus on reducing water leaks identified and organising repairs to mitigate this promptly.

Everyday can be different, from paying invoices, to attending sites, to liaising with contractors. It is important that you display initiative, and are confident dealing with people from all levels within the council. A keen eye for detail, this role will require you to explore data and identify anomalies in energy and billing usage, and make recommendations for energy savings. Ideally, you will have experience in a similar role and an understanding of energy databases such as SystemsLink.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
