Utilising skills and experience gained within a similar position, you will report to the Head of Property and Litigation and be responsible for your own caseload covering a wide range of property matters.

Your next role
We now have opportunities for a Solicitor to join our Property Legal team. Ideally, you will be an experienced property specialist who is able to provide legal support to the Council in property matters.
You will support the Council in a broad range of property matters including drafting and negotiating commercial leases, dealing with rent reviews, licenses to assign/sublet, and all manner of commercial conveyancing matters, including drafting Wayleaves, Easements and all documentation relating to commercial conveyancing and advising on commercial property and advice on property, landlord and tenant matters.
The role will involve handling a varied caseload of Property matters, including the sale and purchase of residential property and dealing with disposal of Council owned property to its secure tenants via the Right to Buy scheme, as well as providing legal advice and support to clients, committees, members and senior officers.
Alternatively, you may be a less experienced Property lawyer with an enthusiasm to develop and grow your experience in this specialist area with the support of the team.
We are looking for an experienced practitioner with at least two years’ experience in public sector law, who possesses a strong background in property. You will arrive at solutions through analytical ability and thorough research, and show tenacity and strong interpersonal skills necessary to build effective working relationships and establish credibility with clients and colleagues. You’ll also be capable of working with limited support and supervision.
This is a Hybrid role with attendance at office required two days a week (with a Wednesday being mandatory)
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
