We are looking to appoint a Physical Disability Outreach Worker to support the Advisory Teacher for Physical Disability and Complex Medical Needs to meet the needs pupils on her caseload.

The role is peripatetic and will involve acting as administrative and service support. It will require close liaison with and supervision from the Advisory Teacher.

Your next role

Duties are likely to include:

  • Sourcing quotes and processing orders through the online system for a range of specialist equipment
  • Organising delivery of equipment from the Community stores to settings and fit equipment for students in settings e.g. toilet frames, specialist chairs etc and ensure settings are given training and guidance in their use
  • Visiting schools to do routine equipment checks e.g. of specialist chairs
  • Distributing risk assessments for all equipment placed in settings
  • Visiting schools when equipment is reported as faulty/broken and fix on site or liaising with Community Stores if equipment needs repair
  • Representing the AT in meetings, when needed.

You will be involved in working with sensitive information, and a high level of professionalism will be required at all times. 

If appointed you will need to be able to work as part of a team, with creativity and initiative, and to deadlines when necessary. Previous experience of working within a school setting is preferred.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
