Our property assets team comprises professional staff specialising in estate and asset management. The team is both friendly and holds a wealth of property experience that we are keen to share with you. The team are responsible for the strategic and day to day management of the Council’s property estate, including the properties it occupies for service use and its commercially portfolio. It is also responsible for the disposal and acquisition of assets. Utilising the Council’s land and property to generate an increased commercial return and help with its place shaping aspirations means you will support making decisions that have real impact.
Your next role
We are looking for a Commercial Property Manager to make sure we get the best out of our commercial portfolio. It is a chance to operate on a scale that you will find in few other local authorities. The commercial portfolio produces c£10m of annual revenue and is an important resource for the Council. With a range of interests such as headquarter offices, trade parks, industrial units and village centres, there’s plenty of variety and scope to use your skills to add value and make a real difference to the performance of the portfolio.
You will work to ensure that the Council benefits from the highest standards of professional advice in relation to the management and development of this significant commercial property portfolio – balancing immediate needs with longer term strategic planning. You will offer expert advice to senior leadership and elected members on all property related matters ensuring we anticipate and manage risk effectively and that our decision making process is robust and well informed.
Your background
It is essential that you are a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. We expect that you will bring a proven record of accomplishment from within the property sector with practical experience of managing a commercial portfolio. Your technical skills should be enhanced by wider leadership abilities and you will manage a small team.
You will possess excellent people skills allied with the proven ability to listen, explain, negotiate and influence. You will be an enthusiastic, skilled subject matter expert with excellent presentation and report writing skills. You will be experienced of achieving good performance in a busy environment and are capable of building strong, enduring and productive relationships with elected Members, Corporate Directors, the Senior Officers, council staff, partners and residents.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
Must have the ability to travel around the Borough.
