Building Surveyor
Job specification
We have an exciting opportunity within Swindon Borough Council’s Operations team for an experienced building surveyor.
Your next role
The candidate must be experienced in Social Housing refurbishment programmes, preparing briefs, developing technical designs and administrating construction contract through to hand over and close out.
Other responsibilities include:
- To prepare feasibility studies, develop new initiatives and concepts and produce detailed technical/complex specifications, drawings and design solutions for modernisation and improvement projects within the housing capital investment program that comply with the latest planning, health and safety and building regulations requirements including obtaining all necessary permissions. Experience with CAD preferred
- Preparing contractual documents and working closely with a procurement team for the tendering process to award a successful contractor
- Managing project delivery including chairing progress meetings with contractors and review and reporting project KPI’s to the delivery manager.
- Budget monitoring. Producing project cost reports and reporting to the delivery manager. Payment of invoices.
- Monitoring of contractors’ progress and quality of works including detailed sign offs.
About You
- Track record of project delivery within commercial and housing properties
- Basic knowledge/understanding of AutoCAD
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Track record of contract management and management of contractors
- Experience using Microsoft Project
- Full driving licence
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
