Swindon Borough Council are seeking a commercially focussed and ambitious Events and Conferencing Assistant with experience of working in an events and/or conferencing environment to join our successful Income Generation Team for our Swindon Museums and  Heritage Sites.             

Your next role

Working predominately at STEAM - Museum of the Great Western Railway, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the delivery of our busy conferencing business whilst helping to develop an attractive events package that caters for the needs of our corporate and community sectors. You will support the Income Generation Team to seek new and innovative ways to keep the Swindon Museums and Lydiard Park brands fresh so that visitors continue to be inspired and engaged and you will have the capability to coordinate multiple events at any one time whilst still maintaining an impeccable eye for detail and service.

You will assist the development and implementation of a successful and inspirational programme of events and conferencing activities predominately at STEAM Museum (with occasional work at Museum & Art Swindon and Lydiard Park.

If you have good organisational skills, knowledge of budgeting and financial management, and excellent communications, research and creative skills, in order to attract and retain audiences and raise levels of attendance and income, with the ability to deliver on the Income Generation Team’s objectives, then we want to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be flexible to work evenings and weekends when required to support the events and conferencing programme.

Must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role)”.
