Lewis Moran - Digital Communications Executive
Tell us about yourself
After graduating in 2014 from The University of Gloucestershire, I worked for a Design and Advertising awards charity in London where I’m originally from. I then moved to Swindon and worked as a Graphic Designer and Artworker for brands like Marks & Spencer, Disney and Network Rail.
Since joining the Council in June 2017 I have learnt lots and have applied my skills to a number of digital outputs, which seems to be working as the Communications Team have run two award-winning campaigns over the last year. I genuinely enjoy coming into work every day.
What attracted you to join SBC?
I think the variety in the role was what initially attracted me to join SBC.
My role is so diverse that one day I could be filming interviews with foster carers, the next publishing the Highways Newsletter. I also think that having the opportunity to see the work you do positively impacting residents makes the job really rewarding. There are a lot of positive things happening in Swindon and it’s my job to let residents know about them.
Describe a typical day in your role
Every morning my first job of the day is to check the corporate Facebook and Twitter accounts to see if there are any messages that need responding to. I then check the analytics and report back on our most engaged posts from the previous day through the Daily Media Summary which gets sent to all staff.
Depending on the day of the week I could be completing a number of tasks. I could be brainstorming and scheduling content for the corporate social media channels, filming and editing videos, placing adverts, collating and publishing the corporate newsletters, designing graphics for service areas, all with the aim to run effective and measurable campaigns which make a difference for our residents.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy trying to get out of escape rooms and have completed the majority of rooms in Swindon, some more successfully than others. I try to visit escape rooms while I’m away on holiday. Apart from this, I also enjoy taking my dog for walks around Lydiard and Coate Water.
Where is the best place you have visited?
Amsterdam has been one of my favourite places that I’ve recently visited, I’ve got a lot of good memories there - drinking craft beer in a windmill was one highlight. It was also where I proposed.
What are your ambitions/aspirations?
My ambitions are to continue to learn and develop my career through the training and learning opportunities that are available at SBC and continue to tell Swindon’s story.
