The IRO and CP Chair Service in Swindon is not afraid of having difficult conversations which challenge practice of professionals, families and young people. We are committed to achieving compliance with all of our regulatory obligations including the IRO Handbook.
We have developed a strong culture of talking to our young people. We started by setting up Young People’s Challenge Groups to inform us as to how to deliver our work in ways that make a real difference to children’s lives, their participation and to change what is unhelpful.
We are now entering the next exciting phase of our development which includes the role of Participation Officer and a Care Leavers Apprenticeship being based within our service. This part of our service will be leading and moving forward the work with our Children in Care Council, Children in Care Awards Annual Ceremony and social events for young people in care and their carers.
We can offer you the opportunity of a well-paid return from management to creative practice. You will be working directly and innovatively with children and their families to make the changes that they say will make a real difference.
Good communication skills are essential as you use your skills to help children and their family’s to participate in meetings and achieve the best outcomes possible. Experience of chairing meetings is highly desirable.
This is a vital and important role and we are inviting applications from those who are HCPC registered, have a degree in social work (or equivalent), have relevant management experience in social work, and have excellent knowledge of relevant child care legislation and procedures.
