In our SEND Service Travel Teams we have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team as we transform the way in which travel across Swindon is delivered to our children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Within the North Travel Hub, this is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the office team supporting home to school travel assistance for eligible children and young people across Swindon. Our aim is to ensure that our children, young people and vulnerable adults are supported to become as independent as possible. This role will see the successful candidate dealing with daily communication (emails, phones) with parents/carers of children/young people with SEND, with schools and education providers, and with contracted travel companies to ensure that our children and young people are able to access education daily.

You are a committed individual who will bring your experience supporting children, young people and vulnerable adults within local authorities, charities or private sector organisations to a council where we put Swindon and its people at the heart of everything we do.

Your knowledge of safeguarding, lone working, multi-agency engagement, evidenced based decisions and supporting children, young people and vulnerable adults makes you our ideal candidate. So too is your commitment to supporting people and making a difference.

You will need to be an excellent communicator; have the confidence to work with a range of stakeholders including children, young people, vulnerable adults, families, schools, settings etc. You will need to have exceptional time management, interpersonal, and organisational skills. The nature of the role means that there may be some requirement to work outside of usual office hours, including evenings and weekends by negotiation. You will need to be an excellent team player but also be able to work independently.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
