At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.

We are bold and ambitious in our plans, with a clear vision and direction for the future. Our status as one of the UK’s fastest growing towns is driving transformational change across our organisation, most significantly within our highly valued Adults’ Services teams.

Swindon Borough Council is developing a modern, effective and efficient end-to-end Technology Enabled Care (TEC) service that enables individuals to use TEC to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible. See our full vision here.

Your next role

We are seeking an experienced manager with, emotional intelligence, strong leadership skills and a collaborative style.

With the ability to lead and motivate others, you will support the design of this new TEC service whilst leading on service improvement activities in the existing community alarms service. You will lead on the co-design and implementation of the service improvement plan, improving data capture and insights as well as putting in place processes to share case studies and tell stories about the impact of the service. You will be motivated by the difference the service will make to the lives of individuals and have a keen eye for what data is required to enhance business as usual management as well as service improvement.

The development of the TEC service will also involve the setting up of a Living Lab (a real-life demonstration environment for the technology) as well as developing and implementing income generating opportunities. Working within the Adult services directorate you will lead on embedding the existing community alarms Service and the new TEC Service into the Adults directorate to maximising the awareness and utilisation of technology.

Given the levels of change in this area, you must have demonstrable evidence of change and people management. You must be able to bring people on the journey whilst also getting things done to a high standard and in a timely way.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a new innovative service which will enable people in Swindon to achieve better outcomes. If you believe you have the skills and experience to deliver in this exciting and challenging role, we want to hear from you.

You will be joining a transformation team with like-minded, hard-working and passionate people who are excited to have someone new joining us to turn our Swindon vision for Technology Enabled Care into a reality.

The nature of the role will require you to work onsite at least 4 days a week based at the Civic Campus in Swindon.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).

Your next package

Please see our Rewards and Benefits offer for more details.

As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work life balance.

So, you’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive real, positive change.
