About the role

We have exciting opportunities within Swindon Borough Council’s Property Maintenance Gas team. 

If you’re a Gas Engineer looking for a varied role, now is the time for you to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of our Gas appliances within our local 10,500 domestic rentable homes.

Gas Engineer working pattern:

2 week 4 day rota with long weekend 
•    First Week: 8-6pm Mon –Thursday (4 Day weekend) 
•    Second Week: 8-6pm Tuesday – Friday (2 day weekend)

In addition to the core hours, there are potential increased earnings through Overtime and call out.

Holiday entitlement

•    25 days per annum from day one.
•    29 days per annum after 5 years’ service.
•    31 days per annum after 10 years’ service.

Pension

At Swindon we make it simple and auto-enrol all our colleagues into the local government pension scheme. As a member of the scheme you contribute to the scheme funds which enables you to build up a Defined-Benefit (DB) pension pot.

The pension accrual rate is 2.04 %. What does that mean? 

It means the pension scheme give you an income at your normal pension age linked to inflation which is guaranteed for life. It means you build up a pension worth thousands of pounds annually.
