Job specification
Are you passionate about public health, early intervention and offering families the right help at the right time? Are you looking for new and exciting challenge to develop your skills and take your career to the next level? Do you want to be part of a team that strives for excellence and offers true support to all its members? If the answer is YES, then we want to hear from you.
Your next role
There has never been a better time to join Swindon Borough Council’s Public Health Nursing Team! Due to the recent remodelling of Swindon’s Early Help offer, we are looking for dynamic, innovative and energetic individuals to join us. We have exciting and rewarding roles within our 0-19 team for the right candidates and are looking for people who share our vision of ‘‘One Children’s Service - Consistently Good Everyday’.
Health Visitors are a valued part of our team, who work with the multiagency team to empower children, young people and families to make healthy lifestyle choices. They are able to identify when extra help may be required and offer the appropriate support or signposting as needed.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and able to build effective working relationships with a wide range of people. They will have exceptional time management and organisational skills and demonstrate a resilient, brave and connected mind set. The ability to travel throughout the Borough is essential and therefore a car driver would be preferable.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. It’s why our
regeneration and transformation programmes are already underway. So, you will be joining
us at an exciting time on our journey. We will look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we will achieve our vision of a prosperous, re-vitalised Swindon by 2030 together. And you’ll be proud to say it was made better with you.
Your next package
• A wide range of training and career development opportunities including iHV corporate membership
• Agenda for Change pay scales, annual leave and continuous service
• A career average revalued earnings (CARE) pension scheme
• Leisure and Legal Services discounts
• Eating Out, Shopping and Entertainment discounts
In addition, with our family friendly policies we help you get the most out of your family life by offering the following:
• Flexible and agile working
• Parental leave, adoption leave and compassionate leave
