You are a Sheltered Housing Officer who will bring your experience working within a sheltered care environment or other housing related field to a council where we put Swindon and its people at the heart of everything we do.

Your passion for ensuring our residents receive the highest service standards through delivering all aspects of support from daily welfare calls; liaising with health practitioners; social care providers; families regarding residents’ needs; and areas of safeguarding concern makes you our ideal candidate.

Swindon is a thriving town, consistently ranked highly compared to cities across the country and we are constantly working to further improve the town for its residents and businesses.

Your next role

This challenging role will see you working within a team to provide Sheltered Housing services at a number of sites following recent changes to our model of service delivery as well as manage the health and safety aspects of the buildings and liaise with contactors and repairs teams.

You will have the ability to make and keep accurate records and work with other professionals because you have a good standard of literacy and numeracy; excellent communication skills; and a knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.

Your ability to respond promptly and effectively to any emergency that may arise such as fire alarms and residents who become unwell or require medical assistance is important to us. In adverse weather you will be required to grit footpaths and public areas.

Most important to us, however, is your strong commitment to the ethos and principles of equal opportunities and inclusion and the ability to apply this to everyday practice.

Use of a car or the ability to travel throughout the Borough will also be required to cover different schemes in Swindon.

Your next package

•    25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
•    Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave
•    21.4% contribution to a local government pension scheme (LGPS)
•    Free car parking at our Wat Tyler House campus
•    Leisure discounts
•    Legal Services discounts
•    Eating Out, Shopping and Entertainment discounts

In addition, with our family friendly policies we help you get the most out of your family life by offering the following:

•    Parental leave, adoption leave and compassionate leave
•    Career breaks
•    An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), for free advice from trained professionals
•    Stress management programmes
•    A commitment to the health and wellbeing of our employees

As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work life balance.
