Swindon Children’s Services strongly believes in the value of family life. However, we recognise there are times when children, young people and their families face some difficult challenges in their lives, and where families are having problems we will do all we can to support parents in the continuing care for their children and teenagers.
Carers can at times find it particularly difficult to manage some of the challenging behaviours that children placed with them, may present with when placed with them. Contributing to the provision of an effective and efficient support service, you will assist Team Manager, Assistant Team Manager and Supervising Social Worker to work with the carers and children, who are experiencing difficulties, targeted principally at the prevention of family breakdown and to support young people in their foster placements.
As a Social Care Worker in the Fostering Team, you will be expected to work closely with all professionals to support families and ensure children are achieving positive outcomes. No day is the same, and your duties can range from attending and planning support groups for carers, doing one-to-one work or other support work with the foster children in the placement, and doing one-to-one support work with the carers.
