The Public Health Team have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated and skilled individuals to join our successful team as Community Researchers. You will be working alongside a committed team of community based professionals, all with the passion and expertise to deliver a client focused service; helping to improve lives and promote independence.
Your role will be about mobilising community activity in neighbourhoods in Swindon, using an asset based approach you will be working intensively with local residents. You will inspire and assist them to create and contribute to local activity that enriches community life for the wider population.
There will a focus to the role around addressing digital exclusion and food poverty and you will be working alongside Officers who will be leading work around creating sustainable solutions.
You will be responsible for building relationships, researching initiatives and will work closely with colleagues to ensure that groups and individuals have the opportunity to reach their potential and develop inclusive activity. You will receive ongoing supervision and training as well as peer support from team members.
You will have excellent communication skills and be confident working in Community settings. You will have maths and English at GCSE or equivalent and preferably have experience of working or volunteering in the community. Ideally you will have a driving license and use of a vehicle.
The role is on a fixed term basis for 24 months.
Applicants must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role) and a DBS disclosure will be required.
