The council’s Operations department  encompasses a wide range of services including Grounds Maintenance, Parks and Open Spaces, Waste Collection and Management, Environmental Cleansing, and the Town Centre Hub which incorporates a multi-agency team. 

The Operations response to the challenges the Council faces will facilitate a customer focused service delivery model that demonstrates value for money and embeds a culture of continuous improvement.  In doing so, the service will meet the Council’s objectives – ‘Work with residents to create well cared for neighbourhoods’ and ‘Make best use of Swindon’s resources inside and outside the Council’.

We’re looking for a highly motivated individual to work as a Skilled Gardener, to maintain a high standard of Landscaping and Playground maintenance within the Borough of Swindon.

Amongst undertaking general gardening duties, such as planting of trees, shrubs and after care. As a skilled landscape gardener, you will undertake hard landscaping works to include laying of hard paved surfaces, minor tarmacing, concrete bases and safety surfacing such as rubber wet pour and loose-fill bark. The erection of play equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the erection of other structures such as timber and metal fencing, stone and retaining walls.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar field and possess the ability and understanding to use all types of grounds maintenance machinery.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the performance of a customer facing role.
