The Highway Maintenance team are responsible for the routine maintenance of the roads, footway, signs and lines across Swindon which is set to increase 30% over the next five years as the Council delivers ambitious expansion plans, which are required to facilitate the growth and regeneration of Swindon. This provides homes, jobs, recreational opportunities and a high quality environment for residents, visitors and employers alike.

As a Skilled Road Worker, you will be required to carry out all types of maintenance work associated with the highway asset. You will also carry out small repairs to delivering larger projects throughout the Borough. You should be prepared to work in all weather and work and may be asked to take part in an out of hour’s standby rota attending emergency situations to assess and repair. 

Ideally, you will have or be working towards New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and CSCS.  A full licence is essential.  

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the performance of a customer facing role.
