The Highway Operations team is responsible for all the highway and street lighting routine maintenance as well as discreet projects around the Borough including minor improvement schemes, parking areas, housing projects, and bespoke lighting schemes, such as the town’s Christmas lights installation and switch on and the Christmas markets. The Council have secured substantial funding grants to deliver major improvements over the next five years and the Highway Street Lighting team will be part of that delivery.

We are looking for an Electrician with experience of working with Street Lighting equipment, with a background in Civil Engineering, HND level and with the confidence to lead on the delivery of the Street Lighting and Electrical projects and team. The ability to understand the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders including Council Members, residents and local interest groups and to work within a framework to meet those needs.  A proven record of managing budgets as well as supervising Operational staff. More than that, you’ll be a strong communicator and motivational leader and someone who brings out the best in the people around them.

You must be equipped to manage complex projects, a commercial understanding, budget management and multi-disciplinary project teams. 

Candidates must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
